A Topple for You To Join: Be a Patriot

Not that I'm surprised, but it definitely saddens me that as this election season wraps up we are still talking race.  I don't care what you think about Obama - but one thing is for sure - the color of someone's skin is pointless.

Here's a quote I was sent today:

"Surely the day will come when color means nothing more than skin tone, when religion is seen uniquely as a way to speak one's soul; when birth places have the weight of a throw of a dice and all men are born free, when understanding breeds love and brotherhood."

- Josephine Baker

Please join me in setting in motion a new Topple where each person in the Topple decides to not participate in a conversation about skin color as a factor in someone's ability to lead.

Here's how it will work:

1). Listen for people bringing it up (you'll be surprised how much it happens).
2). Say something to stop it.  I would suggest, "It actually feels unpatriotic to talk about skin color doesn't it?"
3). If you get a decent response, ask the other person to help stop the discussion by doing just what you did.

Maybe you have a better suggestion on what words can be spoken when you find yourself involved in a conversation about Obama's skin color.  Please post your ideas here.

I'm sure most people are just as sick and tired as I am about having race be an issue in America.  It's gone on WAY TOO LONG.  Being a Toppler means taking one small step to see if you can do something to change it.  It may set something big in motion, but at the very least it could just help you build the courage necessary to tip dominos.
