I just returned from an amazing trip to Japan and Bali. Being out of the normal structure of every-day life was fantastic for thinking about Domino Theory. Several hours stating off into space, writing, and talking with one of my closet, oldest, and best friends. He's the kind of friend who would never blow smoke up your ass, and in fact likes playing devil's advocate.
When I returned to Colorado last Thurs., I was energized and the first thing I did regarding Domino Theory was to send a message to Weijers Domino Productions asking is I could help with the set up Domino Day 2008 in the Netherlands in November. I filled out an online application basically saying that I'm nuts and would love to help because it would give me great material for upcoming book (I'll talk about the book later).
So, this morning at 5 am when I was awaken by my wife's phone alerting the entire house that it was going to run out of batteries (is my smoke alarm that loud?), I thought "maybe the I heard back?!"
Indeed I had. Looks like I live in the wrong country:
Hi Herb,
Thank you for your application for Domino Day 2008. Unfortunately I have to let you know that you will not be invited to one of the selections, since you are not living in a country that belongs to the Europian Union. It is not possible for us to get a working license for people outside the EU, sorry!
However, thank you for your interest in our event, en I hope you can watch it on the Internet!
Kind regards,
Weijers Domino Productions,
Carolien Hendriks
I think this is a grand conspiracy by the EU to keep Topplers in the US down!
I'm not giving up that easy. I guess that wasn't the right domino to tip to get into this event. My next approach will be to figure out how to be a reporter coving the event. Toppling takes patience and persistence. With my new found energy returning from Japan/Bali I can't be stopped!
